the timer did not ring

A timer rings through a notification, so three switches in iOS Settings need to be on.

  1. Settings, Notifications, Wanci: Allow Notifications on, and Time Sensitive Notifications on.
  2. If a Focus was on: Settings, Focus, that Focus, Apps: allow Time Sensitive notifications, or add Wanci to the allowed apps.
  3. The hardware silent switch mutes the sound but the banner still shows. Only Apple's Clock can ring through the silent switch.
  4. Low Power Mode and force-quitting the app do not stop a timer. The alert is already scheduled with iOS.

nothing on the Lock Screen or in the Dynamic Island

The Lock Screen card and the Island are a Live Activity, and Live Activities have their own switch.

  1. Settings, Wanci: Live Activities on.
  2. Settings, Face ID & Passcode: Live Activities allowed on the Lock Screen.
  3. If you swipe a Live Activity away, the timer keeps running and still rings.

a widget shows an old time

iOS refreshes widgets on its own budget. The live timer widget counts down on its own. The others update when something changes in the app. Opening Wanci once brings every widget up to date.

restore a purchase

Purchases belong to your Apple ID. On a new phone, or after reinstalling, open Settings inside Wanci and tap restore purchases, or use the same button on the purchase screen. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple ID that bought it.

cancel or manage the subscription

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not in the app. Go to iPhone Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Wanci. Cancelling keeps access until the end of the paid period. Refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

sync between two iPhones

Wanci syncs through your own iCloud, so both phones need the same Apple ID with iCloud Drive on, and sync turned on in Wanci's settings on each. Sync is not instant. Give it a minute with the app open.

delete everything

Deleting the app removes everything on the phone. To remove the iCloud copy too: Settings, your name, iCloud, Manage Account Storage, Wanci, Delete Data. There is no account to close.

questions

Does the timer keep running when I close the app or lock my phone?

Yes. A running timer lives on its end date and on a scheduled notification, so closing the app, locking the phone, or restarting it changes nothing. It rings at the time you set.

Does it ring through Focus and Do Not Disturb?

Yes. Wanci uses time-sensitive notifications, which iOS delivers inside Focus modes instead of holding them for a summary. The hardware silent switch still mutes sound, as it does for every timer app other than Apple's Clock.

How many timers can run at once?

Five. The table holds five friends on one row that never scrolls, so you can see who is working without switching screens.

What is a ritual?

A timer made of steps that each wait for your tap before the next one starts. Bloom, pour and drawdown for a pour-over, or work and rest rounds for a tabata. Each step can use a different friend.

What does the streak count?

Days kept, meaning days on which you saw a timer through to the end and came back to say "got it". Starting a timer does not count. The log is a month calendar you can walk back through.

Is there a free version?

No, but there is a free trial. During the trial you get the complete app, every friend and every feature. After that, Wanci Pro is either a monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. The App Store shows the price in your currency.

Where does my data live?

On your phone, and in your own private iCloud if you turn sync on. There is no account, no sign-in, no ads, and no analytics. Wanci collects nothing.

Does it work on iPad, Apple Watch, or Android?

No. Wanci is an iPhone app, portrait only, for iOS 18 and later. There is no iPad layout, no Watch app, and no Android version.

How do I cancel the subscription?

In your Apple ID settings under Subscriptions, like any App Store subscription. Cancelling at least 24 hours before the period ends stops the next charge. Nothing you made is deleted when a subscription lapses.

What languages does it speak?

English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese and Indonesian.
